Stattdessen wurden zwei SFBs eingerichtet, neben dem SFB 40 ' Theoretical Mathematics ' auch der SFB 72 ' Approximation and mathematical optimization in application-oriented mathematics ' Die Sonderforschungsbereiche waren sehr erfolgreich.
