tpk.schattauer.deDer Mensch infiziert sich durch die Aufnahme von Echinococcen-Eiern bei direktem Kontakt mit den Endwirten ( Hund, Katze, Fuchs ) oder im Falle des Fuchsbandwurmes auch durch die Aufnahme kontaminierter Nahrungsmittel ( Waldfrüchte ).
Im Darm schlüpfen die Larven, durchdringen die Darmwand und gelangen über den Blutkreislauf in andere Organe, wo sie große Zysten ( E. granulosus, zystische Hydatidose ) oder infiltrative kleine Zysten ( E. multilocularis ) bilden können.
Die Krankheit kann über Jahre ohne Symptome verlaufen.

The disease can progress without any symptoms over years.
