Laut einem Briefwechsel zwischen der EU-Kommission und der Europäischen Lebensmittelbehörde EFSA soll die Behörde bis Ende April u.a. Eingaben von Testbiotech prüfen.
Erklärt die EFSA dann, dass es keine neuen Erkenntnisse gibt, hat der EU-Kommissar freie Bahn, den Mais zuzulassen, den Dow AgroSciences und Pioneer Hi-Bred/DuPont entwickelt haben.
Vor diesem Hintergrund präsentiert Testbiotech heute einen Bericht, der in Zusammenhang mit dem Mais 1507 einen starken Einfluss der Industrie auf alle Bereiche der Risikoforschung belegt.

Außerdem wurde die EFSA gebeten, die Hauptkriterien festzulegen, um zu bestimmen, ob und in welchen Fällen Versuchstiere eigens für die Versuche gezüchtet werden sollten (“purpose-bred”) und um festzustellen, welche Arten sich dafür eignen.
Das Gremium ist der Ansicht, daß, von wenigen begründeten Ausnahmen abgesehen, die am häufigsten verwendeten Labortierarten, weiterhin für diese Zwecke gezüchtet werden sollten.

In addition, EFSA was also asked to propose key criteria to determine if and when animals used in experiments should be bred specifically for experiments (‘purpose-bred’) and to determine which species meet these criteria.
The Panel considers that the most commonly used species of laboratory animals should continue to be purpose bred with only a few justified exceptions.
