In the late 1960s, Hörmann receives the commission for all electrical installations in the new VW plant in Salzgitter, a project that marks the companies entrance into the field of industrial technology.

1965 steigt die Firma in das Sirenengeschäft ein, zunächst als Subunternehmer.Nach dem raschen Aufstieg in den engen Kreis der Lieferanten für das Bundesamt für Zivilschutz in Bonn entwickelt sich Hörmann zum Marktführer für Warnsysteme.
Am Ende der 60er Jahre schafft Hörmann durch Elektroinstallationen für das neue VW-Werk in Salzgitter einen ersten Einstieg in den Bereich Industrietechnik.
