Castello Rotund was constructed at the behest of the Bishop of Coira around 900.
The list of proprietors ranges from Heinrich von Reichenberg, the von Schlandersberg und von Hendl families, up to its last owner, the Baron von Heydorf.
Castello di Reichenberg belonged originally to the Bishops of Coira, but in the 12th century the castle was acquired by the von Reichenberg ruling family, of whom the local population was greatly afraid.

Die Burg Reichenberg gehörte ursprünglich den Bischöfen von Chur, doch im 12. Jh. ging die Burg an die Herren von Reichenberg, die damals bei der örtlichen Bevölkerung sehr gefürchtet waren.
