Anhand des Regionalisierten Agrar- und Umweltinformationssystems RAUMIS wurden die Anbaufläche und Erträge von Mais unter der Annahme von einer völlig elastischen Nachfrage nach produzierter Biomasse bei gegebenen Produzentenpreisen und Opportunitätskosten modelliert.
Bei hohen Transportkosten ist diese Annahme einer völlig elastischen Nachfrage, wenn Anlagen nicht flächendeckend entstehen inkorrekt, so dass die Ergebnisse aus RAUMIS durch ein Standortmodell korrigiert werden müssen.

The regional agricultural environmental information system ( RAUMIS ) has modelled the agricultural area and yields for energy maize, assuming a total marketability of all produced biomass at given producer prices and opportunity costs.
Given high transport costs this assumption is incorrect, if plants do not evolve area-wide, and thus, the results of RAUMIS need to be revised by a location model, incorporating transportation costs.
