feather objects from Hawaii that James Cook collected on his journeys, Maori artefacts from New Zealand, an ornamental shield decorated with nautilus shells from the Solomon islands, extensive collections from New Guinea, and Australian boomerangs, dot paintings, and didgeridoos – to name only a few examples.

Gemeinsam mit dem Publikum wird am Abend entschieden, ob und welche weitere Episode der Dokumentationsreihe „Mythen der Südsee“ außerdem präsentiert werden soll – z.B. die Kunst der traditionellen Tätowierung auf Samoa oder die der letzten Sternennavigatoren Mikronesiens.
Um die weit voneinander entfernten Inselwelten ein Stückchen näher zu bringen, sorgen die Filmemacher & Ethnologen Martina Kleinert und Thorolf Lipp, die nicht nur für die Dreharbeiten der „Mythen der Südsee“ in Ozeanien gelebt und seine Inseln bereist haben, für ein deutsch-pazifisches Menü aus dem Erdofen, dem umu.

To build a link between those islands situated far away from each other, the filmmakers and anthropologists Martina Kleinert and Thorolf Lipp, who spent years in the Pacific to shoot documentaries but not only, will care for a German-Pacific menu, coming out of an umu, an earth oven.
