Nach dem Gymnasium absolvierte er die Naturwissenschaftliche Fakultät der Palacký-Universität in Olomouc, seit 1973 arbeitet er als Mittelschullehrer für Mathematik und darstellende Geometrie.
Sein größtes Hobby sind die Natur und ihr Schutz (ein halbes Jahr arbeitete er bei der Verwaltung des Landschaftsschutzgebietes Blanský les, Vorstand der örtlichen Grundorganisation des Tschechischen Naturschützerverbandes Šípek, usw.).
