SyDe bietet Nachwuchswissenschaftlern ein strukturiertes und forschungsorientiertes Ausbildungsprogramm auf dem Weg zum Doktorgrad.
Das Kolleg wurde im Jahr 2012 gemeinsam von der Universität Bremen, dem Deutschen Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz (DFKI) und dem Deutschen Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) gegründet.

SyDe offers young researchers pursuing their doctorate a structured and research-oriented program of academic training.
The research training group was set up jointly in 2012 by the University of Bremen, the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and the German Aerospace Center (DLR).

Aus diesem Angebot können auch Zertifikatsstudierende ihr Ausbildungsprogramm zusammenstellen.
Das seit 1993 geltende Kreditsystem erlaubt flexible Kombinationen.
