Der Althistoriker John Dillon beschäftigt sich mit der Konzeption sakraler Räume im republikanischen Rom.
Sein Projekt verfolgt die Fragestellung, wie sich solche Konzeptionen mit den Kulturbegegnungen im Zuge der römischen Expansion entwickelten und veränderten, welche rechtlichen und politischen Folgen dies zeitigte und wie sich diese Entwicklung von Raumkonzeptionen kulturgeschichtlich kontextualisieren lässt.

The habilitation project of John Dillon is an investigation of the conception of sacred spaces in Republican Rome.
His project pursues the question how such conceptions developed and changed through encounters with different cultures over the course of the Roman expansion, what legal and political consequences this brought about, and how this development of spatial conceptions can be contextualized in terms of cultural history.
