The Gruppe betreibt neben einem Large-Eddy Modell die Landkomponente von M4T (Max-Planck Institute for Meteorology Mobile Toolkit), das Geräte zur lokalen Erfassung von Austauschflüssen als auch dem Zustand beider Kompartemente des Klimasystems umfasst.
Die Gruppe ist eine gemeinsame Forschungsgruppe des Meteorologischen Instituts der Universität Hamburg und des Max-Planck-Instituts für Meteorologie.
