A MOST VIOLENT YEAR, der neue Film von J. C. Chandor ( DER GROSSE CRASH - MARGIN CALL, ALL IS LOST ) wurde zum Besten Film 2014 gekürt.
Auch die Darsteller des Films wurden geehrt, und so erhielt Oscar Isaac den Preis als Bester Hauptdarsteller für seine Rolle als Abel Morales, einen ambitionierten Selfmademan. Er teilt sich die Auszeichnung mit Michael Keaton (BIRDMAN).
Jessica CHASTAIN wurde als Beste Nebendarstellerin für ihre Rolle als Anna Morales, die Ehefrau von Oscar Isaac, ausgezeichnet.
