Since the mid-nineties, a growing number of young bands are shaking the dust off of Gaelic folk to give it a more contemporary sound.

Bagpipe, violin and flute melodies with lyrics sung in the exotic sounding Gaelic language are paired with modern dance beats or jazz, funk and pop, creating emotionally moving, danceable tracks, music that pays respect to tradition but shines in a new and unknown light.
